Having Turkish ID. After Birth

You may have Turkish ID in the name of your baby after birth from Civil Registry Directorates located in your city or closest Turkish Consulates aboroad after birth declaration of your baby. Before the declaration make sure that your baby was registered in your civil registry board.

If the birth declaration was sent to the Civil Registration Directorate in your city; birth report registered into civil family board and Identification card is given.

If the birth declaration was sent to the Turkish Consulate or Representment outside the Turkey; then they are sent to the Civil Registry Directorate in which your registration is bound. After the authentication, your Turkish ID will be issued.

Having Turkish ID. After Renewal of The Registration

a) Saved Registry
A person who has saved registry can apply to have Turkish ID to where his/her registration is bound. However, his passport size picture must verify the picture already in the file saved by the civil registry directoship.

In case the person who has saved file, applies to another civil registry directoship, the person must submit the interim ID. If the person is not able to submit interim ID, then an ID demand form which is arranged by the autonomus of the address should be submitted. (Not: Each district has an autonomous person who is holding address registration of the area in Turkey)

b) Being Granted Citizenship (First Time)
After being granted Turkish Citizenship, you need to register into your family civil registry board. Then you can submit your Resident Permit or foreign country identification card or passport for any official process. If you are not able to submit your resident permit, you are required to submit turkish ID request form which could be arranged by the autonomous person in your district.

c) Being Granted Citizenship (Second Time)

In case of your re-accepteance into the Turkish Citizenship; you can submit your Turkish ID request form which is arranged by the institution in which the person works or by the autonomous person in the address district for your official process. If you made your application to the one the Turkish Consulate, you ca nsubmit ID card issued for a foreign citizen or your passport for any kind of official process.

Renewal or Exchanging Your Turkish ID Card

You are not required to submit Turkish ID request form which is normally arranged by the district autonomous, since you already have and present the old ID. However, if your ID serial number or ID number is not apparent on the system, or if there is consistency among those numbers, one of the documents mentioned below required from the applicant. If you are failed to submit any of these, or any photo inconsistency among those documents, you may need to submit Turkish ID request form which is arranged by the district autonomous. An investigation could be carried out to detect the true identity by the police / gendarma.

International Family Registration Book
Driver License
Passport
Officer Booklet
Lawyer ID Card
Press Card
Foreigners Resident Permit
ID Card From Foreign Country or Passport

In this content, except for the Officer ID cards which is given due to the relevant law, other ID cards will not be counted as credited ID cards to prove your identity.

If your ID is torn / broken but you can still read the ID number, you can replace your ID card with the new one. The old ID should be kept by the civil registry office. To apply for the renewal / exchange, you must be older than 15. Also please declare if any changes applies to your card such as: name, family name, birth date, martial status.

Having New Turkish ID. In Cases of Lost or Stolen


In case of stolen or lost Turkish ID; Turkish ID request form is needed. District autonomous person must arrange and sign the form.


Besides, if required, civil registry directorship may demand additional documents to prove the identification.

As a proof document, one of the following documents accepted:

International Family Registration Book
Driver License
Passport
Officer Booklet
Lawyer ID Card
Press Card
Foreigners Resident Permit
ID Card From Foreign Country or Passport

If the person fails to submit one of the documents above, there would be an investigation which includes appointments with the people who knows the applicant. Then, if the investigation concluded positive way, the person can finish his/her application to the civil registry directorship.
